As title. I’m looking for the Tau model. I might be interested in the Pico, if someone can guide me to program a 3 octave fingering system.
sorry, nothing to sell.
be aware, whilst octave switching (via fingerer, or midi pedal) can be done on the Pico.
in practice its not much fun unless you are playing monophonic. (imo)
Pico is a fantastic introduction into Eigenharps, I really like the breath pipe, and the pickup n’ play nature. its just really fun / playful.
but, I found I out grew it quite quickly (due to number of keys) , which led to some frustration.
that said, when I did get my Alpha, it gave my pico a new lease of life, as I could accept it for what it could do, rather than could not:)
I say, this, as getting taus/alphas these days is very difficult whilst picos come up much more frequently - partly due to price and numbers sold, and I suspect (generally) tau/alpha players are more ‘invested’ - so I know many are tempted by picos when they come up.
ofc, if you are really adventurous you can do as @keymanpal has, buy two, make a duo pico - but its a challenge to wire it up nicely in EigenD ![]()
Well yeah, using a pico as a monophonic instrument was the idea. Though I would much rather have a Tau model.
Basically, I was looking for a wind controller, but I’ve had issues with an EWI, and although I’m a woodwind player, I’m considering learning an instrument like this instead because it should be much more plug and play with virtual instruments.
For example, fast music where you can’t single tongue notes might be an issue if the wind controller needs you to have low breath sensitivity, and I’m used to instruments where playing notes is effortless as far as breath is concerned. But good luck finding out which breath sensitivity is needed for double tonguing for all EWIs before buying, because it’s an advanced technique that not everyone necessarily uses… And even then, the VSTi needs to recognize double tonguing properly, so that’s a rabbit hole to go into, depending on what virtual instrument you want to play (In my case, I’m interested in instruments that aren’t included in SWAM). On an instrument like this… if I need to play something fast, I can choose to not blow lol.
