ContinuuCon 2025

ContinuuCon Electronic Music Conference Scheduled for Paris, IRCAM

ContinuuCon 2025, the seventh international Haken Continuum Conference, is returning to France in March 26–28. This year’s event will take place in Paris, and will be hosted by the IRCAM Forum. It will be fully integrated in the IRCAM event with a room dedicated to ContinuuCon every morning.

Musicians, sound designers, software developers, and music enthusiasts are invited to explore the world’s most uniquely expressive electronic musical instruments through presentations, performances, and hands-on experiences. As always, ContinuuCon will focus on every instrument that features the Haken Continuum’s internal sound engine the EaganMatrix, including the Continuum Fingerboard, ContinuuMini, EaganMatrix Module for Eurorack, and Expressive E Osmose synthesizer.

ContinuuCon 2025 will also include a ContinuuCon Dinner (date still to be defined). Over these 3 days, Continuum inventor and EaganMatrix developers Lippold Haken, Edmund Eagan and Christophe Duquesne will join other authorities and some of the world’s most skilful Continuum players to share their expertise and technical knowledge. The integration in the IRCAM Forum will allow attendees to also benefit all the other conferences of the Forum to discover or go into IRCAM ‘s sonic research world in depth.

Haken Continuum players include film composer A.R. Rahman (who participated in last year’s ContinuuCon), Nine Inch Nail’s Trent Reznor, and The Who’s Pete Townshend, who said, “I absolutely adore it. The Continuum is already inspiring me to new ideas.” You may also hear the Continuum featured in the scores to Game of Thrones, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, and the recent Dune: Part Two.

Since 2016, previous Continuum conferences have been held in Asheville, North Carolina, in Palmela, Portugal, France, and in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and this will be the second edition at IRCAM in Paris. ContinuuCon’s tickets will be integrated in the IRCAM Forum’s ticket (no additional fees) and can be purchased here: Inscriptions - Forum 2025 | Ircam Forum .For additional information, and videos of past events, visit the website continuucon.com.

Call for Presentations

In addition to Lippold Haken, inventor of the Continuum Fingerboard and ContinuuMini, scheduled presenters include Edmund Eagan and Christophe Duquesne, developers of the onboard synthesis engine the EaganMatrix. If you have an idea for a presentation, please submit an informal proposal to ContinuuCon@gmail.com as soon as you can. Presentations that incorporate some performance aspect are preferred. Presentations should be 30 to 45 minutes in length. Applications can no longer be accepted after the available slots have been assigned. Please note these presentations will also be communicated in the global IRCAM Forum agenda.

About Haken Audio’s Instruments

The Continuum Fingerboard is a polyphonic electronic instrument that offers continuous multidimensional performance control by responding to each finger independently. The ContinuuMini is a smaller, more affordable duotactic model based on the same technology. Inside is the EaganMatrix, a cutting-edge, user-programmable, digital modular synthesizer taking full advantage of the supple playing surface’s myriad performance possibilities. For Eurorack users, the EaganMatrix Module opens doors to musical worlds still unexplored.
