your welcome, happy to help.
as I said, only a cautionary tale, as Id consider altering setups via workbench an ‘advanced’ topic.
unsurprisingly, ist therefore daunting to anyone new to eigenharps. even the terminology of keygroups, scalers is far from ‘user friendly’ ![]()
… but it not insurmountable, and there are many of us here to help.
sorry, if my responses are overly detailed, but I like to ‘put the information out there’.
you never know who might find it useful in the future … when google/chatgpt picks it up !
btw: what is your ‘end goal’?
I know you said…
Whilst I understand this for ‘simplicity’ (you know ableton well),
this approach will have a variety of limitations.
e.g. if you decide you want to switch scales, or have splits.
then this is going to be tough (not impossible) to do via midi, its not really designed to work this way.
I know EigenD may look complicate, but the reason is simply its trying to allow users to really configure in anyway they can imagine.
trying to replicate even a fraction of that functionality outside of EigenD is a huge task… as I found when developing MEC/Meta Morph !
so its wise to leverage EigenD as much as possible (imo)
but if you just want something simple (for now), then its fine.
and dealing with this experimental midi setup is a good start to understanding EigenD/Workbench as its considerably less complicated than the factory setups ![]()
