Eigenharp and New MacBook Pro M5 Compatibility

Hello, I am considering buying the new Macbook Pro M5 running Tahoe as the OS. Will EigenD run on this or is there another program that will allow me to play VSTs?

Thanks in advance!

I recently updated to Tahoe on my MBP M4 and have not noticed any issues with the ECMapper + GigPerformer combo I use for my Eigenharps. I don’t have EigenD installed, so haven’t tested that.

Hi Kai,

Thank you for this excellent news. I look forward to purchasing the M5 at the end of the year and trying this solution. It seems more straightforward than Eigen D.

It is more straightforward, but that also means less flexible. It lacks some important features that I never got around to adding simply because I didn’t happen to need them myself. So it might suit your preferences, it might not.

It should be safe to assume that Meta Morph also works fine (it uses the same core library for the Eigenharp communication). Meta Morph is by nature way more flexible than ECMapper. EigenD probably still works, too. So you should have options.

As a side note, I’m VERY happy with GigPerformer. Powerful, but easy to use.

Thanks so much Kai. I have an M4 on order with more ram and cores. I am really looking forward to this new set up.

the last few macOs releases have not really impacted EigenD, so Id expect it to work.

AND…

I have some important and exciting EigenD developments that I hope to announce - very soon, watch this space

( I know huge tease, but Im very close… we are, possibly, days ! )

yeah, though as I said… Ive little doubt 2.2.1 works on Tahoe.

It’s just I’ve not upgraded any of my Macs, for two reasons.
a) I’ve been working on a number of projects, so didn’t want to introduce another variable just before release.
b) No one has reported an issue with it using my software , so no ‘need’ to debug on it.

Its a good point though, I can update one of my Macs tomorrow, as it’d be good to test both 2.2.1 and 3.0.0 on Tahoe, now there is .1 release.
