the one Ive been waiting for is the API zone is back
though I didn’t use it, I guess some will also be happy the Ableton Live controller is back too.
I think this means feature parity is achieved compared to the Erae 1 !?
I had a look at the sysex API doc, seems to be same as before, so no new api features specific to the Erae 2. or at least documented.
that said, it didnt really need anything new, as its just an api into the touch data.
one thing that’ll be interesting to try… does the looper work with the api zone/api.
I’d guess it will, as I think the looper recording is pretty low level, based on touches. but we will see
Ive just install this and had a couple of ‘worrying’ issues.
a) after the firmware install, the Erae got locked up with “Finishing Install, this will take a minute” (or similar) - and it never returned.
I had to power cycle the Erae.
this did NOT prove to be an issue - it was updated to 1.0.9 fine.
b) locking up on power up
after the 1.0.9 the Erae was very frequently (almost every boot) locking up when powering on… almost every other time.
however, I noticed if the sd card was removed it seemed to be ok.
to ‘resolve’ this I deleted everything on the sd card - this seems to have fix it.
Im not sure if this was due to a project on the sdcard, or if it was the global settings. I just. decided it’d be easier to start a fresh.
a few notes / observations :
quirks happen for particular users, due to particular setups etc.
so this does not mean the update is broken for everyone. its just an fyi
it may be the 2nd issue I had was caused by the first
e.g. perhaps it had updated firmware, but locked up migrating some settings, so caused the second issue.
I previously was on 1.0.7, so I was up to date beforehand.
I was running latest macOS
after the issue I checked the embodme forum, and found others had had similar issues with last update, and had resolve in similar way. so does not seem specific to this release. interestingly, my last update went without a hitch, so again… just one of those things, wind blowing in a particular way
overall, just be aware of the above, and how you can resolve if it happens to you,
Did you wipe the card outside the ERAE or is there a technique to do it in the unit? I can’t update it and first of gave errors and now it just runs through the process but manner updates. Last update wasn’t completely smooth either,
