This is a statement on the kickstarter page about the looper.
"This is a MIDI Looper so you will not need to use Max for live but simply record your MIDI tracks in any DAW, and of course with all the MPE features.
The Play/Rec/Pause will be linked with Ableton so you will be able to use it Live of course!
The internal system is actually recording Gestures and not MIDI notes, so we can maximize the Expressive capacity.
We are building this week a Preset and Video Tutorial that we will try to publish it over the weekend to show you more how it works!"
I’m wondering if this “expressive” capacity can be sent out as CV/gate as well? I’m just getting into eurorack for the first time and I’m interested to be able to play my modules. They require Volt per Octave type CV, so wondering it playing and output from the sequencer, arp and looper can be output with pitch information to my rack? Not sure how all that works but I got concerned when I didn’t find anything on Embodme’s webpage for the Erae 2 about V/Oct or outputting pitch information through the CV ports. It just says this in the specs section:
24x configurable analog outputs (Gate, CV, trigger)
Im pretty sure they demo’d the looper outputting CV at namm (?)
though I think this was for modulation rather than v/oct.
but Id assume it doesn’t care too much.
more generally, for v/oct, Id assume thats a given… not much point being able to output gate without v/oct
but we will see soon enough…
KS update today, says first 50 are shipping this weekend … Im backer #7
(though, few campaigns ship strictly in backer order number… so doesn’t mean that much)
A stable version of Erae Lab should be released by Friday and we are making the final touch of the User Manual which should be available early next week.
(I’m backer #35)
Edited to add:
They did not specify that they’re shipping in backer order. International logistics being what they are, this should not be assumed.
Edited again, to also add:
Okay, this would seem to be confirmation:
yeah, this is something we saw with Osmose…
in particularly they batched up the US orders into a big container, which took a bit longer than the approach they took for the EU. so their orders were quite delayed.
similarly, last time, Erae mk1 all got shipped to HQ first (Paris?) then out, so again EU got it pretty quickly compared to some other regions. thats said, only a few days in it really.
this time, it sounds like they are shipping direct from China… so perhaps not?
anyways… doesn’t matter, sounds like the production runs is quite big, so I suspect time between first and last (backers) to get thier units wont be soo long.
I pre-ordered and have assumed I’ll get the extra skin as promised but I don’t see it on my receipt. Did any of you pre-order? If so, what extra skin are you getting and was it listed in your receipt?
Looking at very recent replies (eg just yesterday) they made on Kickstarter, they are shipping in order (although there were also some ‘PRO’ orders before the Kickstarter so the first 50 wont actually fully cover the first 50 Kickstarters by the sounds of it). The first 50 were checked by their own staff who visited the factory, subsequent batches will be checked by the factory staff now that they’ve been trained on this side of things.
A recent comment from them also reiterated that “As a backer you will get both skin included as a reward.” I dont think its that unusual to not see this on your receipt, the other skin probably only shows up on paperwork for people that have ordered one later, now that its a separate item with a cost for new orders.
Looking at the glossy marketing on their main website these days, it does go on about “record intricate loops to be played back on any CV”.
I preordered in Oct. An Erae II with free Drum Skin + Shipping = 830 usd.
Now embodme offers a blackfriday sale for an Erae II at 730 usd. An extra drum skin is 53 usd. So in total 783 usd with free shipping.
I’m very upset that I ordered at a higher price. Before even receiving the product, its price dropped.
Yeh, I didn’t see a place to add the drum skin when I pre-ordered. I just assumed it was included and I didn’t have to do anything. Sounds like I won’t get it since it didn’t appear on my receipt.
Well my info comes mostly from the kickstarter form of pre-ordering. I didnt actually see the details of other, later preorders myself. But if the website at the time said you get the free drum skin, then they will have to honour that, and if they dont it will be down to error.
Well, they got me with the Black Friday deal. I was really trying to hold out until the earliest backers gave some reports and demos. But sometimes a good deal is too good to pass up. Still looking forward to those reviews and demos! I ought to receive mine in 3-4 weeks and look forward to exploring the Erae II with y’all!
42 x 24 RGB leds in a grid, so thats as small as you get. (similar to Erae 1)
so, they are pretty big - which limits the layouts you can make, as they are in coarse grid.
note: the touch sensing is not limited to this, as its continuous, so its about visual feedback / positioning.
we will have to wait to see what changes have been made to the (new) Erae Lab to see what layout possible/
Thank you. I guess that’s what I thought, from the look. It has an early computer video game look, to my way of thinking. Nothing wrong with that, but hard to imagine a fine button grid.
