yeah, the api zone missing is a bit of an odd one… perhaps they are reworking the api a bit?
they do advertise the API on Erae 2, so some how this will be possible.
Im not entirely surprised about the sequencer and livepad being missing.
(though, Im sure some will ‘miss’ the sequencer, if it doesn’t return)
the other thing, that I hope is only temporary, is having a separate version for Erae 1 and 2.
it may be, this is because of these missing elements, also perhaps changes in the firmware are required to use… and will come later to Erae 1.
anyway, hope they sort this out sooner rather than later.
anyways, hopefully we’ll get updates a bit faster than we did the first time around.
Embodme just informed me I would not receive the extra skin as part of the pre-order, after telling me I would before I placed the order. Has anyone pre- ordered (as opposed to kickstarter) when the price was $699 instead of $799 and can confirm this?
If I’m reading correctly, only the first 10 units were shipped that first weekend, the rest held back to correct an overtightened thread lock.
They mention in the newsletter, and confirmed separately in the KS comments, that they’re shipping in order of backer numbers. I assumed otherwise because I keep seeing people below 50 mention that they haven’t received notification that their unit is shipping. This is easier to reconcile when “they shipped the first 50” is a false statement.
(I’m of a “take your time, get it right” mindset, but I sort of wish I didn’t have to infer these things.
I do think it’s more “language barrier” than “deliberate omission”, though.)
Even if they had shipped 50 I wouldnt expect that to totally cover the first 50 kickstarter backers because they mentioned some pro pre-orders being part of that queue too, although they didnt say how many of those there were.
It looks like they sent maybe a third of those initial 50 units to backers, then stopped for two weeks to negotiate a downgraded shipping deal for the remainder.
I don’t imagine there will be an actual announcement until that next batch is out the door, as they need that momentum to offset what is decidedly not a good look.
But, you know, now we can stop searching our emails every hour to see if the daily batches we might have been first in included us, as those assumptions were all built on false information.
I see there is an announcement on the Kickstarter page about Erae II shipping but I’m not able to read it here. Would someone mind posting here if you are able to view it? Many thanks!

they can’t offer a tracking number until they have actually shipped (well, technically until they have produced the label) - its reasonable that they have a supplied (an updated) shipping schedule.
ofc, no one wants to hear another delay, though in fairness, their last announcement said it was delayed until early Jan, so its consistent with that, no new delay here really… just more details.
having backed a few kickstarters over the years, there is nothing unusual here in length of delay, lest we forget how long EE delayed the Osmose by, and periods of almost zero communication.
ofc, I recognise a few company failures recently, have made people understandably ‘jittery’, but thats not something Embodme can do much about.
you know they have a product to ship, but troubles ramping up production can be a thing.
on the positive, Id say its good to hear they are predicting delivery well before Chinese New Year which is often another source of delay.
The more detailed timeline we just received pointedly didn’t include a start date, and I agree with your assessment that they haven’t yet started.
This places them one to two weeks behind what they told us.
That’s arguably not a new delay, but a miscalculated buffer whose ending coincides with the timing of this announcement?
I think we’re still on track for the majority to arrive in the first half of January, but that claim was for all backers, and the 280 people on “2-3 weeks” should no longer hold this expectation.
We’re in “what was actually promised, vs strongly hinted at?” territory. Which doesn’t feel great, but that feeling is temporary.
I received a DHL tracking number this morning, via text message. It says my unit just departed HK, a mere four days after that other backer from the screenshot above. (same country, 80+ spaces behind me in line)
So, y’know, backer order isn’t really a factor. Just, everyone be patient and we’ll get through this as fast as possible.
(it’s expected on January 10th. Still on target for “first half of January”)

Embodme posted a shipping update yesterday, which included a very interesting detail:
On top of this, some of the accessories were not completely ready the week prior Christmas and last week of December. So our manufacturer decided to ship the Pledges that only had the ERAE standard edition first.
They’d stated in a previous update that accessories would be a separate shipment, so I wasn’t expecting those any time soon.
Still not holding my breath on those, but if my package includes the mounting plate and dust cover tomorrow, that would fully explain the discrepancy in shipping order.
Hello, Just a heads up I had ordered an erae 2 from the pre-sale on the website, not the kickstarter. I was pleasantly surprised to find my unit in my shipping box this afternoon. Although that could have been bad if porch pirates found it first, also don’t believe I ever received a shipping confirmed email so it was a surprise. Anyways I remember some here being concerned about it coming with the extra drum skin and I can confirm mine did include it! Ymmv.
Yeh, I didn’t receive a confirmation e-mail at all. Just a text from DHL. It was supposed to be delivered today but because of ice and snow here, it couldn’t be. I’ve waited this long so a coupe more days isn’t a big deal. I do hope it has the extra skin. I had to reason with them and show proof before they agreed to honor their original agreement. And I sure hope it’s not defective. Seems like there have been quite a few that have been.
