Anybody still experiencing sd card issues at start up. I noticed it was an issue on another thread but I haven’t seen any follow ups. I usually have to power the unit on and off several time before it boots up preset on the card. Last night it booted my preset the first try, This morning I couldn’t get it to boot the preset at all.

I have not had any issues before, but last week I got errors when turning on the unit that the SD-card could not be read?
After a few re-boots it started up fine so I backed up my layouts just in case.
I had issues with it starting a couple weeks ago. It would just go white and never boot. During that time, I had to try about 5 times to get it to start up. This happened for several days, then all of a sudden, without doing anything like updating the firmware or any other big changes, it seemed to work again. Kinda baffling.
I have it all the time… I guess it looks for the card before it booted completely, its not a contact problem or such, as pulling it out and in again doesn’t do anything…
Ok, I have had two very different issues.
The first one resulted in the unit not booting, I saw the screen backlight go on and the it didnt advance. That was resolved with a later firmware.
The second issue came recently where the screen said SD card error. After a few reboots it resolved, but that was clearly something else.
Hey folks, thanks for sharing your experiences. My mental health is better for it because I thought I was crazy when it came to my experience.
I want to provide an update to my OP. After a prolonged experience with the sd card issue I stepped away from unit for while. I eventually came back on the site and noticed some new updates that ended up fixing the issue. It’s been about a month of no weird booting activity.

my experience is, its been much better with each firmware release.
it certainly, made it much less frequent.
I don’t think since the latest releases, its happened at all.
given it was getting much more sporadic, its possible theres a bit of ‘luck’ mixed in.
but overall, its been fine for awhile now.
I really wish Embodme would give us some transparency on this…
what is/was the underlying issue? what were the fixes? are they 100%?
those that are still having issues… you might want to try a couple of things:
a) try booting without an sdcard
(erae 2 will boot without, though you’ll get a message to insert card)
b) try a different sd card
(I think some reported a different sd card improved the situation, and its true not all scares are equal ;)))
honestly, iirc, from my previous testing, its seems the issue is more a startup issue with the sdcard controller, either timing or possibly a power issue, that deprives controller of required voltage?
when I first reported this (within a day of release?) and embodme were after details as they. didnt have any ideas - they focused questions on power delivery, e.g. host power / which psu I used etc… so sounded like thats where they feared there may be issues.
one thing I noticed is, with each firmware release ‘fix’, the boot up time has increased, its now much slower than it was initially - so seems they are slowing it down, to allow something to ‘catch up’, or perhaps delaying leds power on to reduce power consumption on boot.
(Ive no issue with this , reliability is better than quick ‘sometimes’)
thats why Id have liked some transparency, so we dont have to speculate on causes!?
