You are right, i’m sorry I didn’t catch this detail before editing.
Exquis is a controller, and it doesn’t produce sound by itself. But it comes with it’s own application, which embed VST and AU synth plugins, and it comes with a big pack of dedicated Surge XT presets.
If I follow your comment on the ROLI product without embedded equator, then I should remove Exquis from the list. (Done)
Is there a section on the forum which list the MPE controllers?
No, there is no wiki post for “hardware controllers supporting MPE” on Poly Expression: no one has created it yet. Creating a wiki post on Discourse requires at least a trust level of 3 (Regular) unless configured differently by the server administrator.
I added a link for the Modal Carbon8 as their new website is now up and running. I removed Aoydo as they went out of business before managing to finish the Omega synths. I added the Waldorf M since a firmware update gave it MPE support. I added the Arturia Polybrute (a firmware update added MPE support) and Polybrute 12. I removed the UDO Super Gemini since MPE support has not actually been implemented in its firmware at this time. I updated the Black Corp entries to reflect the fact that original MK1 versions also supported MPE, and to add the existence of a MK2 Kijimi.
We have the Axoloti Core in this list, but for completeness’ sake we should add Ksoloti Core as well (especially because MPE has been reworked in the current version of Ksoloti)
There are plans to add MPE generation/output to Ksoloti, but I am guessing when it is ready, it should also be added to the list “Controllers that support MPE?”
Hi! Maybe I missed something, but I think several Korg synths deserve a mention, all these support input of polyAT and per-note release velocity:
wavestate (mk1, mk2, SE & module)
modwave (mk1, mk2 & module)
opsix (mk1, mk2, SE & module)
multi/poly (mk1 & module)
Also, the wavestate and multi/poly support up to four-part multitimbral usage, and the modwave optionally in two-part arrangement. This is optional, you can set each layer to respect the global midi channel or use their own.
So, technically this is only about two forms of MPE and unfortunately not more, but they are near-infinitely modulate-able and one could also carefully program the synths to use other MPE params only for certain layers. So really, the potential for polyphonic expression is indeed quite impressive…
