Joué Music going out of business

Not on the Microsoft Store app, but directly from the browser, it downloads for me.

Anyway, I just put the files on a drive (will the link work here?):

That’s really nice of you, Gazeld. Thank you for your help.
I managed to launch joue-editor-2.4.exe, but not the other two…
As soon as I launch one of the two, I get a pop-up saying ‘We will redirect you to the Microsoft Store to complete your download’. I have disabled my antivirus software.
I don’t understand how it works for you. And specifically, when you launch a file, what does it download?

I was able to install the Pro Editor from the Microsoft Store, and it recognized my first-generation Joue, perhaps even as a “Pro” unit.

I was able to reset a few of my overlays (as a few of those were configured to the same notes on the same channel), which is great. But only those ones whose settings were close to default.

Some of my overlays – either because they’re wider, or because they were configured with bend, pressure, or MPE configured… it coudn’t read the settings from those.

I tried to overwrite one of those, and the process corrupted it. That overlay is no longer recognized by the editor, and it no longer outputs MIDI.

Not sure what to do about that. I’m looking around for my old computer now, with the old editor on it.

Oh! Perhaps you could try to install an older version of Windows in a VM?

unfortunately, I only see this getting worst over time. e.g. a windows/Mac update breaking the binary.

perhaps its time to look for an alternative way forward?

has anyone tried to contact the ‘developers’ to see if they would be willing to supply the source code / open source it? or even provide under nda?

its reasonably easy to the es-CEO of Joue etc on linked in, perhaps reach out to them and see what is possible? even if they don’t have access to the code, they might be in contact with other members of the team that do.

I generally, find people are pretty helpful where they can be, and I think they’d be sympathetic to users, esp, if seen as ‘community’ effort.

ofc, there may be ‘licensing’ issues around releasing the code, so it may not be possible, or may require and NDA - but you wont know unless you try

(if licensing is an issue, there are other options, that could be put forward)

note: I don’t have a Joue, so its not something Im interested in chasing.
but if you can get access to the code, I could help out (if required) on the technical side.

The USB port on mine seems to become completely dysfunctional a long time ago so I havent kept up wth these developments.

Its the only MPE controller I regret buying, since the pressure sensing never worked properly with multiple notes anyway. It worked like a stupid see-saw where increasing the pressure applied to one finger reduced the pressure data coming from another fingers touch! I still remember how I felt when I contacted them on their forum (a forum that they subsequently removed long before they went out of business), expecting to be told that there would be a firmware fix, only to be told that this was a physical limitation of the device! Useless! It was a big shame because I really liked the layout and feel of one of the overlays, and that overlay was a nice size for MPE Y movement.
