Hakan Editor 10.09 (despite it showing V0.00 onscreen!)
Hello! I’ve had my Osmose a couple of days now, and absolutely love it. However, the techie tinkering aspect to my nature has compelled me to investigate the Hakan Editor. I’ve got the patch running in Max, but there is an initial stumbling block.
When I go into the settings to set the MIDI and Global Settings
I’m setting the Source and Output port for Instrument to Osmose Port 2 (I read some where that this was correct) and I understood that successful setting of the MIDI ports would turn the icon below the Scale label to a bright turquoise colour. Mine just stays grey and no virtual keyboard appears.
Also the version number on the top right hand corner of the editor seems a little strange…
Does any one have any clue what glaringly obvious thing I’ve missed?
Grrr! As a new user, I can only post one image so here’s one showing the errant version number, the non-turquoise icon, and my MIDI and Global Settings
…
on the osmose settings you need to set usb haken mode
this is covered on the expressive e site instructions
Connecting Osmose to the Haken Editor - Help Center.
No worries! I’ve sorted it. I needed to go into the midi I/O
settings on my Osmose and lame sure that haken local control
was set to on
. Makes sense
Thanks for the reply! My usb haken mode
was already set to 2/3 note & matrix
, but haken local control
was set to off
. Switching it to on
has made the editor come alive
that should not be the case…
haken local mode is just about connecting keyboard to sound engine ‘internally’
(its usually on, but will auto turn off , if you have a daw route port 2 → port 2)
(its not about connecting the editor to the engine)
I did see that page yesterday but forgot to bookmark it. i’ve bookmarked it now, and yes, you’re right that would have explained everything!

Well, the only thing I changed on the Osmose was to change the haken local control
.
In fact I’ve just tested it: Switch haken local control
to off
and the Haken Editor doesn’t connect, as described in my initial post. Switch it back to on
and Osmose and the Editor communicate; if I switch presets on the Osmose, the Editor reflects that change!
