Tupos MPE Subtractive — analog-style synth with per-note expression on every knob

Hi all,

I’ve just released Tupos MPE Subtractive, the second synth in my Tupos MPE line (Tupos MPE FM was the first). I built it to be played with MPE controllers first, so I’d like to share it here.

How expression works: every assignable knob has a row of source badges — pressure, slide, velocity, mod wheel, expression pedal, Swell and LFO. Light a badge and set the range right under the knob. Nothing is hidden in a separate matrix page, so you can see at a glance what your hands are moving.

MPE details:

  • Lower, Upper and Both zones, plus a multi-channel mode.
  • Profiles for ROLI, LinnStrument, MIDI guitar and Auto (RPN); a Custom profile with editable zone sizes, bend ranges and the Slide CC.
  • Per-note pitch bend, pressure, slide and release velocity reach each voice.
  • Input mode and bend ranges are settings, not part of presets, so loading a sound never changes your controller setup.
  • Without an MPE controller, the Standard MIDI profile routes channel aftertouch, mod wheel and pedal to the same destinations.

The engine: two oscillators with sub and noise, unison, PWM, hard sync, cross-modulation and drift, into a resonant LP/BP/HP/notch filter at 12 or 24 dB. There’s an arpeggiator, a step sequencer, eight effect slots and MIDI Learn on every assignable knob.

Mac (Standalone, AUv2, VST3; Apple silicon) and Windows (Standalone, VST3). €19.99, one licence for Mac and Windows on up to three computers.

Feedback from MPE players is very welcome — especially on default bend ranges and how the pressure and slide curves feel on your controller.
